Why Do You Look Among the Dead?

“Why do you look for the living among the dead?”

Having died, His followers were looking in an appropriate place for Him that Easter Sunday. Jesus had died that Friday, fulfilled all that was required, and suffered immensely, for all of our sins. He carried, upon Himself, the burden and guilt of our sin, and paid with His death on the cross the cost of our salvation from that sin. He died in our place, a death for sin we could not die on our own. This is how great God’s love is for us!

Jesus did for us what we could not on our own, so that we could in and through Him come and experience eternity with God not separated by sin but drawn in by His love. We are, in Jesus, able to be freed from sin and death, resurrected with Him into life.

His disciples were looking among the dead for their living saviour and friend, but Jesus is alive.

Today when you look for Jesus, look among the living! He is resurrected, alive and waiting... and He wants to be found by you!

Happy Easter. He is Risen.

“On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” Then they remembered his words.”
