She completed a Masters of Theological Studies through McMaster Divinity College in 2024, after successfully writing and defending her thesis on the significance of hearing God’s voice for the spiritual formation of children.
The Roots of Our Story
The idea for Threshold Initiatives was planted in our hearts 20 years ago when God spoke to us about being a safe place for ministry leaders to receive pastoral care, inner healing, and prayer ministry. Our heart has always been to encourage and equip people (leaders, individuals, and churches) to know God intimately, encounter his renewing presence, experience transformational living, and then help others. It can be challenging for leaders to find safe people with whom they can share their wounds and brokenness without judgement, or find the kind of help that can equip and release them into greater freedom.
Paul writes in 2 Timothy 1:7 that God does not give us a spirit of fear but of wisdom, power and self-discipline. While many Christians believe this to be true, they do not feel that they have the ability or the tools to access the Spirit’s wisdom and power, or the freedom to be effective in self-discipline. As we have personally grown in our use and understanding of God’s heavenly resources and equipping, we have helped many others to put these initiatives into practice in their own lives, resulting in experiences of increased freedom through Christ, spiritual renewal, identity, and increased intimacy with God and others.
In 2018 we were given a prophetic word from a trusted leader about being in a distinct season which he described as a threshold. He said that in this liminal space, God was working in us to increase our character and capacity to make us ready to be the kind of people that we would need to be in the season to come. However, we had a choice for how long we would be there. We were not yet where we were going, neither were we where we had been. In the threshold, there is an opportunity for increased intimacy and growth, but for many, it can be a place of increased limitation and immobility.
We also have a calling to equip the church to be all that it can be in this generation. Contributing Pastor equips the local church by providing specialized pastors for consultation who contribute for a season in the areas of ministry in which the local body needs support, training, mentorship, and expertise. Contributing Pastor is a customizable contract with a specialized pastor of your choosing who can assess, equip, mentor and support your current staff team and volunteers to bring a lasting infusion to your local church body in a way that a conference, guest speaker, or popular curriculum cannot. Check out how Contributing Pastor can partner with your local church.
